However, I believe good plots and characters have far more say in whether a manga is enjoyable to a reader or not, in opposed to how realistic drawings of blood splatter and mangled corpses are. That isn’t to say that they’re not scary (or gory, for that matter). However, I definitely encourage BL fans to check out these titles if they are a fan of such stories! This means that wonderfully wicked titles like Rust Blaster by Yana Toboso (the same mangaka who created Black Butler), Bloody Mary by Akaza Samamiya, Dictatorial Grimoire by Ayumi Kanou, Secret Moon by Shiira Gou and many others, won’t be included in this list. Yaoi novels have also not been included for the same reason.
I have nothing against such genres, in fact I love them just as equally as I do yaoi, but I had to draw the line somewhere (there are just so many!).
